:-)

Ok... lunch was....

* The rest of the leftover pasta with low sodium tomato sauce (actually diced tomatoes, whole peeled tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato puree), spinach, spices and some 3-cheese mix.
* The rest of the leftover german potato salad
* Grapefruit

And todays yays are:

1. Starting to tell people that Karl and I are going to spontaneously run off and get married in the next few weeks.
2. Malachi's smile when I told him first this morning that the person he already calls his step-dad is literally going to be his step-dad.
3. The kind of workday that feels very productive but not at all irritating (I had a bug that I was tracking down yesterday that was making me both crazy and pissed off!!!)

I have to admit that in writing this post I am thinking of the fact that this will inform Keimpe and hopefully Karin about Karl and me getting married soon. We don't want a production -- it's going to be small -- Malachi and a witness and someone to marry us (possibly/probably Karyn -- gosh all these K names!). We were laughing about the idea that we could hire a witness from in front of Scarborough(sp?) Lumber if they could legally sign for us....

Anyway -- that's our big news and it definitely constitutes a big YAY!

Monday Yays...

Since I was so darn wordy earlier today, I will keep this short and sweet...

Lunch:

* Baby whole wheat bagels with cream cheese, lower sodium turkey, tomatoes and fresh ground pepper (surprise surprise)

* Half of of sweet and juicy Valencia orange...

Yays:
* Learning that Malachi went to the beach today with the two awesome neighbor children from across the street -- not because they pestered him but because he wanted to! They played dodge ball and had fun

* Having a lunchtime conversation that included Elaine and me having to agree that we have very different tastes in women's breasts... We did agree that they were real -- I thought they were nice breasts but she didn't like them. We both agreed they were pendulous...

* Discovering the pasta from Saturday night was still delicious for dinner tonight...

* Chocolate and Plain frozen yogurt with fresh raspberries, blackberries and strawberries... All the conversation shared walking there, eating in the grassy, shady, dry place, and walking back...

Ok -- clearly I have been remiss...

All that big talk of a new entry every day... Oh well -- I have clearly derailed from that track... I will smüsh my lunches from Thursday and Friday together and have a feast today!

* Baby whole wheat bagels with avocado, tomato, and smoked mozzarella cheese
* Grapefruit
* Cereal ( Blueberry Cluster and Golden Oat crisp (I think I am butchering the names of these cereals so take all with a grain of salt substitute) from Heart Smart) with blueberries and milk
* more Grapefruit...

Ok -- there were probably a couple more things but my brain sprung a leak and the rest of the memories of tasty lunch items fell out.

Yay-yay-yay:

Ok -- this weekend has been one long yay -- I may have to go past 3 (since I missed so many days of writing, it only seems right)

1. Having friends spending the weekend -- little cherubic 4 year old girl and little mischevious 2 year old boy plus their dad (who admirably kept them fed and mostly out of trouble all weekend -- it was exhausting just watching the juggle fest -- and that was even though we all pitched in and played toddler/young child games all weekend)

2. I finished Paper Mario 1 and started Paper Mario 2 -- I love Paper Mario!

3. Going to the farmers market with a friend, very close to the time it opened at 10. I spent all my cash and made a German (ish) potato salad out of some of my "scores"

4. Finding several excuses to ride my bike -- so nice.

5. The ocean with kids -- 1 staying dry and on shore looking for treasures, the other trying her hardest to both get soaked and commit suicide in the big waves -- she has NO FEAR of the ocean no matter how I tried to lecture "Darlin' you should really respect the ocean -- it's very powerful and can sweep you out into her deepest places"

6. My blood pressure being so low all weekend

7. Neighbor kids that are such a blessing to live near. Helping with the little ones (who just idolized them) and just being around and friendly and funny and nice.

8. The piano and keyboard...

9. Watching people play Katamari Damacy... Playing a bit myself to remember how bad I am at that game :-)

Ok -- If I wanted I could go on -- 10. short 10 minute naps in the sun... 11. reading a good book... 12. Going to bed at a decent hour and getting up rested... 13. Little kids sleeping or at least staying nicely contained until 8:30am... 14... the feeling you get when a little one presses their little hand in yours when your walking... 15. A big genuine smile and laugh from a little one who doesn't always laugh when you expect him to.... 16 How could I have forgotten -- Yoga boot camp -- so great -- with Karl, Pixel, and Gary... Laura barking out the orders for the yoga positions... damn that chair was hard -- specially since Pixel was slow getting counted up to 10!

Yeah -- it was a really great weekend :-)

P.S. I missed a really precious Yay! Fondling and smelling the herbs and plants with Miss Pixelated.... Chocolate Mint and Chamomile (with the pretty daisy flowers) were my favorites.... Oh and one more Yay -- Pasta with wonderful mixtures of low sodium canned tomatoes (whole, diced, pureed, mmmm.....) and spices and cheese..... The best part of this meal though was the company and laughter...

I need to yay -- I am feeling pensive...

Ok -- lunch:

* baby ww bagels with smokey fresh mozzarella (textured very fresh with a bit of a rind from the smoking process), tomatoes, avocado and fresh ground pepper
* 3 beet salad in balsamic vinegar
* grapefruit
* some dried apricot as a snack before lunch

Yays:
* Nice, friendly, productive day at work.
* Making Snickerdoodles with my son last night -- he brought them to school for a recipe that was supposed to represent part of his heritage (are Snickerdoodles "English"??? - I know from his father's side there's a bunch of English (Cornwell?) blood and such in him but since there is none of that on my side, I have no idea whether or not Snickerdoodles salute his British side...)
* I can't write the 3rd Yay -- it's definitely NSFW ;-)

Yay Day...

Ok -- first lunch....

It's almost the same as yesterday so maybe that makes makes me boring but at least all the food groups are represented!

* a coupla handfuls of Raspberry trail mix and some dried Apricots before yoga at noon (so I could focus on stretching)

* baby whole wheat bagels with cream cheese (or avocado or both (savage!)), tomato, and low sodium turkey (oh -- and of course fresh ground pepper -- everything goes better with fresh ground pepper!)

* Galia melon

* 3 kinds of beets in balsamic vinegar with red onions and some of the green onion thingys that taste spicy, garlicky and grow all twisted and cool-looking (we got them at the farmers market a few weeks ago and keep them spritely in a glass of water... they are still fresh and crunchy and I think as long as I keep changing the water, they will keep until they are all gone)

* Mmm.... cherries

Ok -- that was lunch... now for some Yays...

1. We have a new person contracting at work who is there to help my department out -- this is a super yay entry! Hopefully he will want to stay!

2. Getting most of my bugs fixed and just flitting here and there fixing things and troubleshooting things and figuring things out -- busy and interesting day!

3. Picking up an old Scrabulous game with my friend Carol -- it's my turn -- bye!

Monday Yay...

Ok -- I had better get a-movin' on updating this thing... In order to sorta feel like I am having lunch with Karin every day, I am going to list what I had for lunch in the hope that she creates a blog in which she lists her lunch items every day. We will pretend we ate together... at the very least, we will inspire each other and that is definitely Yay.

Ok.... Lunch:

* Baby whole wheat bagels with cream cheese, low(er) sodium turkey, tomatoes just taken from their vine and black pepper...

* A quarter of a Galia melon

* Several celery stalks

* Half a plum

* Half a peach (carefully avoiding the worm that found it to be sweet and delicious)

* A few handfuls of dried Raspberry Trader Joe's trail mix and several dried apricots right before lunch while anxiously waiting for it to be lunchtime according to all who joined us today...

* A Fireball for dessert.

And now for the Yays:

1. The comment I just found on one of my blog entries -- made me feel like I had a legitimate blog there for a second. Thank you Señor Milano!

2. Laughing with Karl about a great self-portrait idea he had...

3. Having my son (and the boy across the street) take responsibility for the consequences of a water balloon fight that mostly stayed outside -- no harm done because everything was remedied before we got home.

Long Day Yay...

05 June 2008 @ 08:20 pm

1. Working with Atsushi to figure out all the ruby runtime issues -- it looks as though we got something we can really work with now... YAY
2. People at SVM jumping through hoops to get me a low sodium lunch. Everyone was so helpful and nice. My lunch was delicious.
3. Soft 18 year old Puss Puss kitty cat in my lap right now. It's true he really is in my lap 'cause he wants me to feed him canned food but still... soft....

Yay...

04 June 2008 @ 08:53 pm

1. This kinda quiet, good, satisfied feeling I am experiencing after working out and taking a shower.
2. Seeing Latha in the halls again :-)
3. Not feeling alone and floundery when working on getting the Eclipse 3.4 runtime to work with our bits... I could never ever do this by myself but I am so grateful to watch others in the process of figuring it out. Learning new things is definitely Yay to me.

Today's things that are Yay...

03 June 2008 @ 06:55 pm
1. Yoga -- and having Helen join us for the first time...
2. Learning that we will probably have company the weekend of June 14th including 2 rambunctious, funny, charming children...
3. Bachie -- just looking at him makes me laugh for some reason.

This Blog's Mission Statement...

02 June 2008 @ 10:23 am

[ I actually started this blog on livejournal but was convinced by Keimpe the QA usability King to switch... these will come all on the same day but were written over time.]

This is my first blog entry of my first blog ever. One thing I want to do with this is create a catalog of things I am grateful for. On most days I will write something about what I feel blessed by every day. This list could get very long so I will try to keep it to 3 items a day -- more if I am feeling especially effusive.

Today I feel blessed by...

* The funny stenciled words I have in my head that live on the fence keeping people from going off the cliff of East Cliff that read...
LOVE LOVE LOVE
LIFE LIFE LIFE
and I always recite to myself (or anybody that happens to be next to me at the time) Love, love, love; Life, life, life; Love Life, Love Life, Love Life... amen -- my current mantra...

* Tomatoes, Rhubarb, and fresh Mozzarella cheese.

* The fact that my gift orchid from 3 years ago has finally turned a corner and seems to be doing better than just surviving... Thanks to Keimpe for the trick of how to get that thing happily watered... The big drama for it now is "Will it ever Flower?" -- I can't remember what the flower even looks like it's been so long since I have seen it.
